Johnston's Regenerative helps Canadian farmers understand what their soil can supply, identify the conditions limiting crop performance and build a practical field-specific plan. We connect GPS-located sampling and comprehensive soil analysis with advanced fertility planning, in-season support and targeted biological and nutritional solutions.
What Johnston's Regenerative does
Johnston's Regenerative is a data-driven agronomy program that helps Canadian farmers understand how their soil is functioning, make better fertility decisions and measure how the field responds over time.
We begin with GPS-located soil sampling so every sample establishes a dependable baseline and can be returned to in future seasons. Our comprehensive analysis looks beyond conventional nutrient levels to consider the chemical, physical and biological conditions that influence nutrient availability, root development, water movement and microbial activity.
The laboratory results are translated into a written soil summary and an Advanced Fertility Recommendation. Each plan is built around the target crop, yield goal, rotation, field history and the farm's practical equipment and management needs—not a one-size-fits-all product program.
Support continues through the growing season with crop and weed scouting, herbicide recommendations, tissue and sap analysis, foliar fertility and field monitoring. Biological and nutritional products enter the plan only when they address a defined field objective.
At season end, we bring the information together to compare soil health, crop response, yield and input efficiency. The goal is a measured, field-by-field approach that helps the farm use inputs more intelligently, strengthen long-term soil function and pursue measurable profit without making changes faster than the data supports.
Soil analysis
Johnston's Comprehensive Soil Analysis is completed through accredited laboratories and evaluates the field through three connected lenses.
Establish repeatable points and a dependable baseline.
Assess nutrient supply and hidden soil limitations.
Translate the laboratory results into clear field context.
Build a plan around the field's soil conditions and target crop.
2026 sampling investment
Proper sampling is an investment in better field-specific decisions, clearer benchmarking and more informed fertility planning year after year.
Agronomy pathway
The program carries soil information through crop planning, in-season support and end-of-season analysis.
Open the program sheetGPS-located sampling across the field to create a dependable baseline.
Comprehensive testing, including biological indicators, to reveal availability and limitations.
Match crop and rotation decisions to the soil's physical, chemical and biological conditions.
Core of the program
PhD-supported interpretation connects soil conditions, crop needs, yield targets and operational goals to field-specific remediation and fertility recommendations.
Field walks build a current weed profile for practical recommendations.
Chemical and biological guidance matched to crop and weed pressure.
Timely sampling before the reproductive stage to monitor crop health.
Assess nutrient uptake, Brix levels and early deficiency signals.
Targeted recommendations where in-season nutrition can support the crop.
Clear visual reporting to compare soil health, yield and input efficiency.

A measured transition
“Regenerative farming is a process—not a single-season switch.”
The most durable gains are built deliberately, field by field and season by season. Establishing a baseline, understanding how the soil functions, making measured changes and tracking the response are essential to improving nutrient efficiency, resilience and long-term soil health without moving faster than the field evidence supports.
Soil health presentations
Our presentations connect soil science to decisions farmers make in the field. We discuss how to read the chemical, physical and biological signals in a soil analysis, build a realistic regenerative transition and measure whether each change is improving soil function and input efficiency.
